This album illustrates, as its name states, the British history through the brass corkscrews. This particular type of corkscrews is easily recognizable as the handles are made of brass and depict famous figures (real or fictional), monuments, buildings or other such elements of the British culture.

Each corkscrew has its own story, and this statement is best emphasized in this album, as each figural handle is linked with its history, giving the reader a chance to be introduced both in the British history and culture, as well as in the history of corkscrews.

This album illustrates the great variety and craftsmanship of the sealing stamp corkscrews. The connection between the tools, the corkscrew and the stamp seal, is significant, as a noble person would have carried both of them in order to use them as part of their activities. Examples of such activities involving the corkscrew would have been diverse, as the tool was used for opening wine bottles, but also ink bottles, perfume, medicine and so on.

The album is the first part of a larger project focused on the corkscrews of the 18th century. The album has reached its second edition, after the initial stock was over in short time. The second edition also includes new additions of corkscrews and a revised text.

French cancan comes back to life in this album of elegantly designed ladies’ legs corkscrews. The 1890s pieces, as well as the later ladies’ legs, have a tight connection with the Belle Époque era of liberation from social and moral constraints. Made to be used by men, these small, handy items were kept within reach and brought out for use with enthusiasm and joy. You will feel the same way about them after looking at this album.

The album is focused on the corkscrews in the shape of ladies’ legs, usually made with celluloid scales, although other materials like tortoise shell, mother of pearl, silver, steel or brass were also used when creating such beautiful pieces. Due to the technical process of creating the celluloid scales, which required a large amount of time to become solid, many errors occurred during the making of such corkscrews, which eventually led to many similar pieces, but yet distinct. The errors in the celluloid pattern or the ones occurring during the assembly helped create many unique pieces.

The Artistry in Statuette Corkscrews album emphasizes the artistic side of corkscrews, showing them as tools, as well as beautiful works of art. It is not uncommon for older corkscrews to have artistic decorations or to illustrate humans, animals or plants as their handle or on the sheath. Being so many, they wouldn’t have fit into one album.

Therefore, this particular book focuses on the artistic corkscrews in the shape of statuettes, which enhances their aesthetic appeal. These corkscrews were made in different times and countries, during the supremacy of various art movements. The design of the corkscrews too has changed from the neoclassic period, through Art Nouveau, Art Deco until nowadays, when artists are still interested in creating beautiful works of art starting from a corkscrew.

This album about Syroco pieces is a proof of the great variety of products made by the Syracuse Ornamental Company. The album illustrates mainly corkscrews, but also bottle openers, bookends, tie racks, clothes brushes, and other items having similar designs as the corkscrew versions, all of them being collectible items.

The history of these items is completed by important aspects in the history of the company, the manufacturing process, and many detailed information about the variety of models. The album includes a good selection of very rare corkscrews, some of them being the only known examples.

This Cage album illustrates the beautiful corkscrews of the 17th and 18th centuries, with their exquisite craftsmanship. This well documented book shows the history of the cage corkscrews as well as their descendants in the following centuries. These very rare and special corkscrews had a huge impact on the further evolution of mechanical corkscrews during the following centuries.

The Cage Corkscrews album is the second part of a larger project made by Bertrand Giulian and Ion Chirescu, regarding 17th and 18th centuries corkscrews. The first part was represented by the Sealing Stamp Corkscrews album, released in 2016. The album was a great success and very soon reached its Second Edition, as the first print was out of stock in a matter of weeks.
